This I Believe

Students in speech and debate this trimester have learned that a great speech has great content (message and how it’s written) and great delivery (voice and body language). After analyzing the speeches of several talented public speakers (including Martin Luther King, Jr., Franklin Delano Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Hillary Rodham Clinton), students learned about the This I Believe project. Based on the eponymous 1950s public radio show, the This I Believe project collects essays from people around the world about "the core values that guide their daily lives." These essays are shared in print and audio format on the This I Believe website. Speech and debate students crafted their own This I Believe speech and in addition to presenting it for their classmates and submitting it to the This I Believe project itself, they also created an audio presentation of their speech. These audio presentations are below for your enjoyment. Click on the student's name to also see a transcript of their speech. What do you believe?
